The organization continued to grow throughout the 1980s and 1990s and then in 1998, our company changed its name to Fortis Insurance Company. Through acquisitions (most notably John Alden in 1998), unique product offerings, and expanded distribution channels (including the first and exclusive sales distribution partnership with State Farm Insurance), Assurant Health has become a leading developer and provider of individual medical, small group, short term, and student health insurance products. Over the decades, Assurant Health has built a solid reputation for high-quality products, stability, and financial strength. |
